French Toast in Los Angeles

There are so many holidays throughout the year that many people celebrate– Christmas, Valentine’s Day, The Fourth of July, Thanksgiving– yet no one takes a day off to celebrate National French Toast Day!

While this national day may not have any “real” significance behind it, being a breakfast lover, I wanted to share some of the best places in Los Angeles to order the perfect French toast.

Despite the fact that we just celebrated Thanksgiving, I hope you find time to explore some of these incredible restaurants and eateries. National French Toast Day is November 28th.

1) Trois Familia

When churros meet French toast, you know you’re in for a treat–both literally and figuratively. Topped with Salt & Straw’s amazing vanilla ice cream and Mexican Chocolate, this dish is the perfect combination of salty and sweet.

2) The Griddle Cafe

Located on Sunset Boulevard in the heart of West Hollywood, The Griddle Cafe is nearly always jam-packed with a line out the door. However, even if the wait time is long, I promise you that it is 100% worth it. The restaurant’s signature dish, “Mom’s French Toast”, consists of egg-dipped bread topped with powdered sugar and freshly whipped butter. The Griddle Cafe also offers several other varieties of French toast: hazelnut spread-filled, apple cobbler, chocolate, graham cracker, and peanut butter. Be sure to visit the restaurant early and avoid peak hours.

3) John O’Groats

The eatery’s “Oreo Cookie French Toast” is nearly too delicious for words! Served with crumbled Oreo cookies and whipped cream, this is a breakfast dish you can’t miss. It also makes a fantastic Instagram picture.

4) Rutt’s Hawaiian Cafe

Smashed between two warm, moist pieces of Hawaiian bread, this French toast is simply topped with powdered sugar. Plain, simple, and delicious. The casual restaurant has a fun, unique tropical atmosphere and is great to visit with friends.

5) Blu Jam Cafe

While the line outside of Blu Jam may be long, and you will probably be standing in the hot sun for awhile, once you get inside, you will be overwhelmed by the incredibly diverse menu. Of course, since this article focuses on French toast, you should absolutely check out their take on the classic breakfast food. The chefs batter the egg brioche, roll it in cornflakes, and top the final product with fresh berries and powdered sugar.
