The Inside Scoop: The Best Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt in L.A.

With warm spring weather just around the corner, it’s time for cool treats in Los Angeles, and the city is filled with incredible culinary options. Without further ado, here are my 10 favorite places in Los Angeles to discover the best scoop.

THE YOGURT SHOPPE
With locations in both the Pacific Palisades and Brentwood, The Yogurt Shoppe is certainly worth a visit. In addition to several daily flavors that are reasonably priced, The Yogurt Shoppe also serves a wide variety of delicious toppings– everything from those soft, frosted cookies you find at the supermarket to homemade brownie bites. The reason I visit The Yogurt Shoppe, however, is because of the Vegan Peanut Butter flavor. It’s absolutely mouthwatering and has a coconut base rather than dairy.

SAFFRON ROSE
If you’re looking for exotic ice cream flavors, Saffron Rose is the answer. Located in the heart of Little Tehran, this Persian ice cream shop serves over 15 flavors. Their speciality, as their name suggests, is their saffron ice cream, but some of my personal favorite variations include cucumber, ginger, and cantaloupe. While these flavors may not sound like the typical ice cream scoop, I promise that you won’t regret trying one. In fact, you’ll definitely be back for more.

GO GREEK
Located in Beverly Hills, this eatery is a modern take on frozen yogurt. While Go Greek does offer frozen yogurt (the honey flavor is unbelievably good), the shop is known for its traditional Greek yogurt, which is flown in from Greece every week. When in doubt, order a cup of the 2% yogurt with walnuts, blueberries, and cacao nibs on top. While you’re having a sweet treat, you’re also eating lots of protein and probiotics, which is an excellent benefit. Also, the people watching here is fantastic; everyone from Rachel Zoe to Kendall Jenner are frequent customers.

THE BIGG CHILL
You aren’t a true Angeleno if you haven’t been to The Bigg Chill. This iconic frozen yogurt shop has occupied the same space between Olympic Blvd. and Westwood Blvd. since the 80s, and their decor recognizes that. The Bigg Chill is famous for its vegan cookie dough topping, which you must order. It’s the quintessential LA experience!

HUMPHREY YOGART
Who wouldn’t want to go here based on the name alone? This charming frozen yogurt spot is located inside of Gelson’s Supermarket in Sherman Oaks, and although any item on the menu is delectable, my personal favorite is the Tart Vanilla blended with mango.

BEVERLY GLEN DELI
Although a delicatessen may not be the first place to come to mind when craving frozen yogurt, this one serves some of best soft-serve in LA. I’m in love with the strawberry flavor, which they usually serve daily. Located inside The Glen Centre on the way to the Valley, this deli is a true hidden gem.

HONEYMEE
This Japanese restaurant has become Instagram-famous in recent years because of their “HoneyMee Ice Cream,” which is made of true milk ice cream sourced from a family-owned dairy factory and topped with a natural honeycomb chip. Simply put, this dessert is worth every penny.

MILK
This is the dessert shop that makes the amazing ice cream sandwiches in this article’s featured image. Their Froot Loops flavor is sure to be a hit with friends because it’s unlike anything else out there.

COOL HAUS
Edible ice cream wrappers? Yes, you heard that right! Cool Haus is well-known for their distinct approach to ice cream; they serve absurdly photogenic ice cream sandwiches that truly taste as good as they look.

YOGA-URT
Located in Glendale, this frozen yogurt shop only offers gluten-free toppings for your dessert. While this may sound limiting, they serve everything from brownie bites to chocolate chip cookies. Also, the name is pretty fantastic– a clever combination of the words yoga and yogurt. It doesn’t get much more “LA” than that.

MALIBU YOGURT
This So-Cal staple has been located in Malibu Plaza for as long as I can remember, and their frozen yogurt never fails to satisfy my sweet tooth. They also offer high-quality shaved ice, which is worth a try if you’re in the mood for something lighter.

Also, a quick side note: Ojai Ice Cream is absolutely incredible if you’re ever up north. Even though Ojai is nearly three hours away from Los Angeles, I still had to include it on the list!
